AKOS FODOR
(Budapest, May 17, 1945 – Budapest, February 21, 2015)
Hungarian poet and translator, one of the most famous masters of Hungarian haiku.
Between 1963 and 1968 he studied at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. After graduating from college, he began his editorial career at the Hungarian State Music Publisher. His first book of poems was published in 1978, entitled ‘Kettőspont’ (Double-dot).
His oeuvre was recognized with the Artisjus Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003, the Kálmán Nádasdy Award in 2006, the Artisjus Literary Foundation Award in 2007, and the Bank Austria Austrian Literary Award in 2010. He was a member of the Artisjus Music Foundation.
He is the author of more than twenty volumes, but also wrote radio plays, and has translated to Hungarian dozens of musical stage works.
